Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in CPL
Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR), formerly known as Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel, is one of the five teams that have been a part of the Caribbean Premier League right from the start. It is the most successful team in the tournament, having been crowned champions thrice – 2015, 2017, and 2018. Ever since Bollywood actor-owned Red Chillies Entertainment and Mehta Group bought stakes in the franchise back in 2015, the team’s fortunes have changed. Moreover, it was the first time that a company that owns a team (Kolkata Knight Riders) in the Indian Premier League also owned a team in a foreign T20 league as well. As a result, there have been many instances when a certain player has played for both these franchises, most notably Sunil Narine and Colin Munro.

The Tringbago Knight Riders team is one of the most stable teams in CPL as they have a settled core of players around which they build the rest of the team every year. Dwayne Bravo, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard, Lendl Simmons, and Colin Munro have been their mainstays in the recent past. With the likes of Tim Seifert, Sikandar Raza, and Pravin Tambe, they do have a well-round squad this time around. Having finished 3rd last year, Trinbago Knight Riders will be eager to put their best foot forward this year and bag the crown of the champions once again.
SWOT Analysis for GAW Team 2020
Below is a detailed SWOT analysis of the TKR team that will enable the CPL fantasy league players to better understand the team’s stats and build their dream fantasy team more effectively. Check this information below, analyze and make informed decisions for the CPL fantasy contests.
Strengths of TKR
The biggest strength of Trinbago Knight Riders in CPL 2020 is the fact that they have some serious T20 players who have been at it for more than a decade now. The team has multiple experienced players who know how to win titles. In Kieron Pollard, they have a champion T20 all-rounder who has won it all around the world in this format. Furthermore, they have some of the best clean strikers of the cricket ball in their team, which means they should be able to post and chase down huge totals. Finally, the winning mentality of the team, in general, would be a huge plus in crunch situations.
Weaknesses of TKR
The current squad of the Trinbago Knight Riders in CPL is slightly weak in the bowling department with no known front-line bowler in the squad. Parvin Tambe and Fawad Alam do bring experience to the team but fielding both of them in a squad that has Sunil Narine won’t make a lot of sense. The team is a little over-reliant on the batsmen and all-rounders to win games.
Opportunities for TKR
With the team having no big names in the fast-bowling department, it is a great opportunity for young talents like Anderson Philip and Jayden Seales to step up and put up note-worthy performances. With Parvin Tambe now being part of the CPL T20 with Trinbago Knight Riders, it is a great opportunity for him to put India’s name on the tournament. Finally, it is a great chance for the Shah Rukh Khan owned franchise to win their fourth title and extend the gap between themselves and their opponents.
Threats for TKR
The biggest threat for this team can come when they play in seam-bowling conditions. The lack of experience and skill in this department can back-fire them, especially while defending low totals.
