So, Who are the Emerging Players in Indian T20 Premier League Since 2008?

Check the list of all emerging players along with their teams in Indian Premier League (Indian T20 Premier League) since 2008 below:

1. 2008 – Shreevats Goswami (Bangalore)

The young wicketkeeper won the award in the inaugural edition, thanks to one-half century and four dismissals to his name. Unfortunately, he never managed to kick on from this performance, playing only 29 games for 4 teams so far and flattering to deceive.

2. 2009 – Rohit Sharma (Deccan Chargers)

One of the biggest success stories from this list, the now Mumbai skipper won the award while playing for Deccan Chargers. He played an important hand in the team’s triumph that year, scoring an impressive 362 runs from 16 games. He is surely one of the first names to be considered while forming your daily fantasy cricket squad involving his team.

3. 2010 – Saurabh Tiwary (Mumbai)

Saurabh Tiwary broke onto the scene with his explosive batting prowess, scoring 419 runs in 16 matches for Mumbai. While big things were expected from the pinch-hitter, he has not managed to live up to his potential. He is back with Mumbai this year and will be hoping to recapture some of his impressive form.

4. 2011 – Iqbal Abdulla (Kolkata)

This unknown leg spinner turned his team’s fortunes, picking up 16 wickets, with a great economy of just 6.10. His efforts helped Kolkata reach the playoffs for the first time. However, Abdulla was unfortunate not to get enough chances in the franchises he played for in the following seasons, and last played in the Indian T20 Premier League back in 2017.

5. 2012 – Mandeep Singh (Punjab)

Promoted to the top of the order after spending a season as a relatively unknown entity, Mandeep took the tournament by the storm. He scored 432 runs from 16 games, winning the emerging player award. While he is still an active part of the league and is back to his home team after spending a few seasons with a couple of other teams, he is yet to kick on and make the most of his promise as a batsman.

6. 2013 – Sanju Samson (Rajasthan)

Another player who went on to be a success after winning this award, Sanju Samson made his debut in this very season and impressed everyone with his stroke play. He is still a crucial member of the Rajasthan squad and is also vying for a spot in the India T20I team. This extra motivation makes him a good pick for your Indian T20 Premier League fantasy team.

7. 2014 – Axar Patel (Punjab)

The Gujarat born cricketer is actually the only all-rounder to have been selected as the emerging player in Indian T20 Premier League. He had an impressive season, bowling at an economy of 6.13 and picking up 17 wickets in the process as his team made it to the finals for the first time. He is now a part of Delhi, and while he is still a bankable all-rounder, he has failed to set the league alight over the last few seasons.

8. 2015 – Shreyas Iyer (Delhi)

Probably the biggest success story after Rohit Sharma, the current Delhi skipper had a wonderful debut season with the team. He scored 439 runs at an average of 33.76, winning the emerging player award for his efforts. Iyer is now a mainstay in the Indian team as well, having cemented the number 4 spot in the batting line-up. He is in a rich vein of form and should make for a great addition for your daily fantasy cricket squad.

9. 2016 – Mustafizur Rahman (Hyderabad)

The only non-Indian player to win the emerging player award, Mustafizur Rahman had a brilliant year with the ball in 2016. The left-arm seamer troubled every batsman he faced, picking 17 wickets as he guided the team to the title. However, a recent dip in form saw Mustafizur go unsold in the auction for the upcoming season.

10. 2017 – Basil Thampi (Gujarat Lions)

Basil Thampi’s rise to Indian T20 Premier League stardom was nothing short of a fairy tale. The fast bowler went from playing tennis ball tournaments in Kerala to being the star bowler for his team in an impressive campaign and winning the emerging player award to cap off the season. He picked up 11 wickets in 12 games, with the standout feature being his consistency to bowl Yorkers at searing pace. Thampi will feature for Hyderabad in the upcoming season, hoping to get some chances to put that raw pace to good use.

11. 2018 – Rishabh Pant (Delhi)

Just judging by the individual campaigns of all the emerging players in their respective award-winning seasons, Rishabh Pant’s breakout season stands head and shoulders above everyone else. The young wicketkeeper blazed his way through the 2018 season, amassing an astounding 684 runs, at an average of 52.6 and a breath-taking strike-rate of 173. 6. He is one of the few emerging players to have gone on and become a regular feature in the Indian team.

12. 2019 – Shubhman Gill (Kolkata)

A lot was expected from the young prospect, in his second season in the Indian Premier League, and he did not disappoint. Shubhman Gill scored 296 runs at a healthy 32.88 average and saved the team from many tight spots. He has been on the fringes for the Indian team and will be hoping to have a great run this time around, to further make a case for himself.
